    hey, please i need help. i am running the V.3.8.1 on my admin site(my wordpress site), but when i login to my web host my wordpress is still running on V3.3, my problem is the first time i did the update i had problems login into my admin but that has been fixed, i want to know if updating it in my web host from V.3.3 to V.3.8.1 would cause any files to be lost or affect my site in any way.

    Hi temiloluwa,

    Before you begin, make sure you have a solid backup of the database, uploads and theme files. Especially the database. It is good to get into the habit of having a daily or weekly backup anyways, depending on how often you add content to your site.

    Here is a great backup plugin that makes it easy!

    You should be able to update without problems though. Just make sure you backup!

    help please when i try to open my site it says i have a database connection error. Please this is urgent

    What are the steps you did:
    Do you have cpanel or ssh access:

    thanks! for your help resolved the problem went into my wp-config file and set my db password to the correct thing. Thanks!
