I get the error too, I’m using using (latest) Opera on Win 10. I looked at the browser console (Ctrl+Shift+I) but didn’t see any error.
But I have the impression that the preloading does actually start. A minute or two later, practically all pages are cached. Which is good, because caching is perfect with your plugin!

I just noticed that it might be caused by using the ‘Purge all pages’ at the top of the WP-page. The error doesn’t seem to occur after using the blue ‘Purge cache’ button and then pressing the preload button. At least at 2 of my sites…
