Support » Fixing WordPress » I got a Warning: Illegal string offset ‘name’.

  • stokla1986

Hi, when I click on the ‘New Plugin’ button and scroll down there several warnings and they all state the same problem. The only differences are the several different lines.

Warning: Illegal string offset ‘name’ in D:\appdata\IIS\vhosts\\httpdocs\wp-admin\includes\plugin-install.php on line 257

It’s about the plugin-install.php file which my host has reinstalled after the warnings popped up but the problem isn’t solved after this.

Furthermore there are this kind of warnings:
Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in D:\appdata\IIS\vhosts\\httpdocs\wp-includes\category-template.php on line 73

Warning: number_format() expects parameter 1 to be float, string given in D:\appdata\IIS\vhosts\\httpdocs\wp-includes\functions.php on line 221

    What can I do?

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    Thanks for the fast reply.

After deactivating all plugins and activating twenty nineteen the problem is still there…:(

Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.
Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

So did anything fix the issue? I have this error also…on 3 woocommerce plugins I get this error…
