    Hello,
it’s just a simple question, but I was suspicious, if these e-mails are really sent by wordpress.org or if they are phishing-mails or even contain viruses in the links instead.
The content is always the same:
“`Hallo!

    https://de.wordpress.org/support/forums/

    Das WordPress-Team`

Can you tell me if wordpress.org really sends an information about updates every week, sometimes even twice a week? I can’t imagine that they update the software this often.

Thank you in advance for your answers!
    Sincerely
    Brigitte

Similar issue, I too am getting the “Howdy” emails, but they are going to the wrong email somehow. Where do I change or stop these emails?

I am still getting these e-mails after changing the settings.
As you say, mmcgrath01, these emails are not sent to the adress given here at WordPress, but to the one I use for my business, i.e. the one in the contact form of my website.
Any suggestions how to stop these emails?
    Thank you.

It may be a coincidence, but I’ve noticed that these emails come more often when I open them. To me this looks like they are Spam or even contain malicious code in the links.
This was my orignal question: Are these emails safe or does the sender only use the WordPress-adress to make me click on the link to get a virus on my system?
