Support » Plugin: Broadcast » I don't want a child post to be updated if it has been modifed on the child blog

  • Resolved ligne13

I’m giving a try to this plugin and it looks promising !

    However, I have a problem:

I’ve created a post from the main network blog and broadcasted it on the other blogs of the network. The post shows up on every blog, cool 🙂

Next, I went to Blog#1, logged in as the admin of Blog#1 and updated the post. The update is applied on the post only on Blog#1, good.

If I go back to the main blog as the super-admin, and update the post, the changes made by the admin user on Blog#1 are overwritten.

Is there a way to break the broadcast link between the parent post and a child post if the latter has been updated directly from the child blog ?

PS : on the main blog, I tried to play with the checkboxes in the Broadcast Metabox on the post update form but it does not seem to keep the check/uncheck statuses after saving the post.

If you are editing the parent post, and unselect a linked child, you should be presented with an option to not update / delete / unlink the child post.

Do you not see that option underneath the blog list?

Yes I do see these options. But if I am an admin of one blog in the network, when I edit a broadcasted post, the link to the parent should be automatically removed, and it’s not the case. Am I wrong ?

The link to the parent should not be automatically removed, no.

Can I rephrase the documentation any clearer anywhere?

I found that it’s possible to break the link from the child blog, from the posts lists screen (there is a “Broadcast” column where it’s possible to click on a link named with the parent blog’s name). I think you should also add this option from the post edit form screen.

And I just found about your documentation website 🙂
The links to the doc are broken on the plugin page on

Thanks for the heads up. Have updated the readme.txt and so the links should be updated momentarily…
