I am trying to convert my WP 2.2.2 blog to look like a website by using WP as a CMS and I am getting confused about the “Home” page.
Rather than writing a long description of what I have, please visit the site at:
At the right you will see a HOME link. That came with the theme I am using. It used the WP Loop to show recent posts. That is what “comes up” when entering the blog.
I didn’t want that so I created a new Welcome… Page along with 2 subpages under it, and then used the WP control panel Options > Reading > page to change the ‘Front page displays’ option from “Your latest posts” to “A static page”, and selected SPRING VALLEY HOME in the list box.
The problem is that the old “HOME” link is still there and I don’t know how to get rid of it because it does not appear under Manage > Pages.
How do I get rid of it or better yet, fix it so the contents of SPRING VALLEY HOME appear when HOME is clicked?
If the undesired appearance is dictated by the theme I’m using (Bernie V10), I can muck around there a bit but I thought I’d check here and see if I’m on the right track first.
Also, where do I find information that tells me how to place a link on a Page that points to another Page? That way I don’t have to mess with subpages.
