Support » Plugin: WP2Static » I could not get it to work

  • How do I make this plugin work? Only the first page, the front page is working, the rest of the pages do not even have the .html extension?

    Hi @alve39,

Sorry to hear of the issue. It may be theme or environmental related.

If you switch to the default WordPress theme and disable other plugins, does it succeed to export the whole site?

    Cheers,

    Leon

Thanks so much for your reply. I really want this plugin to work.
I am able to successfully export my whole site to a sub direcotry on my web server, but it looks like when I typed my domain name https://playguitarforfun.com, that web page is loaded from the normal wordpress direcotry, not from the ‘mystaticsite’ directory created by the WP2 static plugin.
Please tell me anything I can try to make this plugin work.

    Hi @alve39,

OK, I think the best place to start is exporting to Netlify, at least for testing that you can get a clean export, then use whichever method you like for production hosting.

You can follow this guide here, using the ZIP method to deploy manually to Netlify:

    https://wp2static.com/docs/getting-started/doing-a-test-export/

Once you see a clean export running there, you will have confidence to deploy it to other places (some of which may require some fiddling).

Basically, domain to domain can be easier than domain to domain/subdirectory, as it’s easier to rewrite links in the same pattern than at different levels. It’s possible, but let’s start with the easiest method first, then build up from there.

If you encounter any other issues in doing your first site export, please let me know.

    Cheers,

    Leon

Ok, I’ll try that. Thanks again.
