Yesterday my theme disappeared. If you went to my site, you just saw a smiley face in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. However, I could still log into WordPress dashboard.
I contacted the theme writer, who advised I deactivate my plug-ins and reinstall them until I found the troublemaker. After I deactivated my plug-ins I got a long list of error messages.
Now if you go to my site http://www.honeybeesuite.com or to my log-in window http://www.honeybeesuite.com/wp-admin/ all you see is this list of error messages. Since I can’t get to WordPress dashboard, I don’t know how to fix anything.
Is there a way to get rid of these error messages?
I would try to re-install the theme.
I would re-install the theme except I can’t get to my dashboard because I can’t find a log-in window.
You would need to do this via FTP. In fact, once you’ve logged in via ftp, make a copy of the old theme and then upload a fresh copy.
Okay, you’ll have to lead me by the hand here. I should go in via ftp, find my theme folder, and copy that to my home computer?
Then should I delete the old theme from my website? Then I should transfer the fresh copy to the site?
Correct me if my thinking is wrong. Will I lose any posts and pages doing this?
Thank you so much. I’m not techy at all (as you can see), but I am very grateful for any insight.
Another question: BlueHost suggested I reinstall WordPress. How can you tell whether the problem is with my theme or with WordPress?
