[resolved] I can't find a solution here about apostrophes in blog name (4 posts)

The title of my blog is Linda Bradshaw's take on life. The apostrophe seems to convert to a slash and I keep getting SEO errors for the name of the blog - saying there is a "serious error" but I don't get any specific explanation of the error or how to correct it. I assume it is because of the apostrophe. I see that years ago other people were complaining of problems with the apostrophe, but there does not seem to be any solution provided. IS there a solution? Should I change the title of my blog?

I've never had a problem with using an apostrophe in a blog name. Looking at your site, it is probably the theme you are using. I see you renamed your blog, but most likely your theme is using a custom function to pull and display the title instead of using WordPress's built in function to do so, and it is not properly removing the slashes. Just in case you don't know, slashes are used in PHP to escape characters that would generally break the script.

I've just installed WordPress 3.5 - a clean install, just now - no plugins or anything yet, and if I use an apostrophe in the site title, it is not escaped, and thus show's the slash before the apostrophe.

This is dire! Do I already have to tweak the code for such a simple thing?

Eating humble pie: it wasn't WordPress but a bug in PHP 5 running under fastcgi
