    Hello!

I really need help. I changed the site URL “settings” from http://browniana.com to http://browniana.com/inicio and after that I haven’t been able to enter as administrator, everytime I try to enter I get this message:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Apache Server at browniana.com Port 80

And if a look at the site with the original URL, I can see it but it has a very basic look: http://browniana.com

Surelly I made a big mistake, and I really would like to able to enter as admin and fix it.

  • Use one of these methods in Change the Site URL (back to what is was prior to the error in this case), then consult your host prior to making such changes or review further in the Codex this issue.

    Thank you very much!

The procedure “Edit functions.php” worked for me very good. I can login in my site and the look is as expected, but still have some strange problems.

I can see all my posts and pages in the dashboard/edit -post ambient, but I cant see them in the site. I keep getting this:

    “Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I cleaned the cache and try another browser and get the same message. Do you have an idea of what is going on? and how to put them back again in the site? I appreciate a lot your help!

    Hi,

Make sure your.htaccess is not corrupted.

You can do so by renaming your main .htaccess file to something like .htaccess_old. To rename the .htaccess file, you will need to login to your site using the FTP. Once you are in, the .htaccess file will be located in the same directory where you will see folders like wp-content, wp-admin, and wp-includes.

Once you have renamed the .htaccess file, try loading your site to see if this solved the problem.

Before you move on with other things, make sure that you go to Settings » Permalinks and click the save button. This will generate a new .htaccess file for you with proper rewrite rules to ensure that your post pages do not return a 404.

If checking for the corrupt .htaccess file solution did not work for you, then you need to get in touch with your hosting provider. By looking at the server logs, they should be able to get to the bottom of things.

    Thanks,

Did you see this important notice:

Important! Do not leave those lines in the functions.php file. Remove them after the site is up and running again.

Yes, yes I did removed the lines.

I will try the procedure with the .htaccess file. Thank you!
