    Hi,

HTTP error 500 can mean some PHP fatal error. So turn ON WordPress debugging mode and look for PHP error message to get more details about a problem.

If something wrong was happened with your user roles this post may help to restore them manually.

Btw, I’m sure that it’s impossible to delete any built-in WordPress role (including ‘subscriber’) with a help of User Role Editor. How did you make it?

First of all, Im thankful for your reply. I installed your plugin to be able to creat a new role. I did it succesfuly. After that as you can see below there is a button named “Delete Role” in your plugin panel. I deleted Subscriber role with it after I created my new role. After that now I cant login my admin panel. And my user role is not subscriber, I am admin. I see admin login panel but I am facing 500 page when I fill my username and password.

    Dear Mr. Garagulya,

I am not good at coding. So The easiest way for me to return my the latest backup which I created a few days ago. But If I did so, I will lose all my new customizations I did yesterday. Its fine, I can make them again.

You may instal a demo wordpress site in a subfolder and test your “Delete Role” buton action. You can also try to delete Subscriber role like me. How a user can fix this If Someone use this function and after that he/she will not login their admin panel with their admin user details?

maybe you can remove that button or you can set that we cant remove custom wordpress roles. You can not guess how much effort and time I lost with this problem. After all, I will restore my host and I will use your plugin again but I will never touch that dangerous button again. Probably I will check its premium version and buy it soon. We are thankful to you to created such a beautiful and useful plugin like this 🙂

    Your sincerely,

Everyone met with situation when he lost some data or some time he spent on tuning, update, configuration. But everyone (including me) study just by own mistakes. It’s a very good practice to have a fresh backup before start any critical changes with your site.

Turning ON WP debugging mode requires just modify a wp-config.php file. You should not be a developer for that. Detailed error message could help to understand what was happened at your site and why it stopped working. I am as a developer could help you to translate it on a not developer language.

About role deletion – it’s impossible to delete role with one click. I have to repeat it’s impossible via User Role Editor (URE) interface to delete any built-in WordPress role, including subscriber one.
I recorded a demo video, to show how URE works with role deletion.
1st of all ‘Delete Role’ is not related to the currently selected role. It opens a dialog window with a list of roles available for deletion. WordPress built-in roles are not included into this list.

I even suppose that you can use not this plugin, but some other with similar name. Is it possible?

If you are sure that exactly this User Role Editor is a reason of recent fatal error at your site, can you repeat it at a test copy? If ‘Yes’, contact me at support [at-sign] role-editor.com
It could be a conflict with other plugin or your single installation. I’m ready to try isolate a reason of this problem at your test site copy.
