I’ve just bought this program and was looking forward to customising my new blog. However, no matter what Theme is selected, when I try to Customise it, the menu bar shows up but the website does not. It remains “loading”, but never actually finishes loading, even if I leave my computer standing like that for 45 minutes! Being able to customise & design my website is integral, so I’m very disappointed in this program so far. I’ll be ever so grateful for your advice! I’m not very tech savvy, so please use simple language to help me. Thank you for your time.
If you need more info, please let me know.

  • I think your computer may be infected with malware. Google search for malwarebytes (free edition), download, install and run the program. When your computer is cleaned up, try again.

Hi, thanks a lot for your suggestion! I tried that, but unfortunately it made no difference. I thought maybe my computer was the problem, so I’ve tried ‘Customising’ my website on various other computers, including a friend’s laptop and a computer at my State Library, and even tried doing it on my mobile phone, but the same thing happens each time. None of the computers I’ve tried are the latest models though (eg my own laptop is 5+ years old), so I don’t know whether that’s an issue, or whether it’s something wrong with WordPress. If there are any other suggestions, please let me know!

You had just brought this program…? I hope you don’t mean WordPress, as it is free.

I would recommend reinstalling your WordPress to see if that might be the issue. If you’re not sure how, you can contact your webhost as they have access to your files.

Hello! Sorry, I mistakenly thought at the time of typing my query that I had bought WordPress, but I now realise I had it confused with something else (iPage).
Thank you for your suggestion too. I’ve tried reinstalling WordPress about four times now (hope I didn’t overdo it!) but the ‘customise’ page still doesn’t load properly.
I’ve also tried this on a new computer at an office, and had the same problem.
If you need further info from me, or have more suggestions, please let me know!

Hello! Just wanted to follow up and provide an update for you. I can now customise my website! I’m not sure what happened to resolve the problem, all I did was go ahead and publish my website (it’s only a blog, so if i kept things simple, it wasn’t absolutely necessary to customise it if i selected a good theme). And today i gave the customising another go, and found that it all works perfectly! Thank you for taking the time to help me out above 🙂
