Why are you adding categories in cPanel? Login to your site and in dashboard and go to Posts > Categories and start adding your Categories. Or, while you’re writing the Posts in your Write panel, add Category/ies on right column.

Yes mercime, that what I did.
when I said cPanel i mean the admin control panel as you said from the dashboard.
Deactivate all plugins and switch to the WordPress Default theme. Then try to use your categories. If they work, then switch back to your theme. If it still works, activate plugins, one-by-one to find the cultprit.

@MishaelH, still not work !! also I cannot add any tags!?
Not much more to add–typically a plugin will cause the conflict and deactivating plugins solves the problem.

I already deactivate all plugins, But I’m not able to add categories and tags as well. Do you recommend to reinstall the wordpress ?
Not sure, but always worth a shot.
You might try deleting your .htaccess file to see if that’s a source of problems. I’d backup your files and database before reinstalling.

Yes, of course, but I am tired of trying to fix this problem and every time it’s shows another problem with it.
I think it’s the time to take a backup, then reinstall it again.
but what is the best way to make a backup for posts and comments? “those are the most important things when I backup”
Where are you hosted? Linux or Windows server? What theme are you using? Also
– Change theme to WordPress Default theme and see if you can add categories in Post > Categories.
– In Post > Add New > Write panel, can you add Categories on the right column?
i am getting the same problem. I add a category and it disappears when i refresh the page. Same thing for tags, when I edit a post, if I try to add a category or a tag to it…it disappears….what gives? this is on a fresh install of wordpress
