Hey Rich, did you fix this? When I go to your blog I see comments now. For example here https://richinsight.org/2019/08/29/now-open/.
What did you do to fix it?
I am not sure. The comments are set to be active for only 90 days after the post.
I have posted to the current blog and it appears, but my friend tries and it says comments are no longer available. I gave him the link, but thinking he is clicking on an older post.
I logged out of WP and used different names and email addresses and comments are appearing in the comment section.
Don’t know what happened to reactivate them working and not 100% convinced that it is fixed. Time will tell.
Here is something that I have discovered!
There is apparently a Facebook comment section that is being appended to my blogs that has nothing to do with the WordPress engine.
I cannot see it in Firefox, but it is visible with Chrome and Opera.
It is NOT using the WP database to store the comments.
I have looked for a switch/plugin that may be controlling this, but there is none.
I have no idea where the comments are coming from or where they are stored.
They are not connected to my Facebook page and I have no idea how to access them.
I would appreciate it if anyone knows what is happening here and poissibly how I can take back control?
Thank you,
Richard
Hi Richard,
Looking at your site’s code it seems these comments are inserted through the Elementor Facebook comments widget. So you should be able to take control of them by going into the Elementor page builder and adjusting this section there.
Here is more info about the Elementor Facebook widgets. Looks like it’s part of Elementor pro.
This widgets works by adding an iframe to your site, which then loads those Facebook comments. This might explain why you see it in one browser and not the other, because you might be blocking iframes in Firefox (possibly through an extension).
I hope this helps you 🙂
Dave
Thank you! That was it. I never even saw that within the posts module.
When I took a closer look with Elementor it had both frames. I deleted the Facebook frame and it is now operating the same on all browsers.
Thank you,
Richard..
Great Richard, happy you got that resolved 🙂
If you like you can mark this topic as resolved too, so that others can easily find it.
Cheers,
Dave
