I can not set “From Name” when I use gmail for WP Mail SMTP. Sender name always appear my gmail mail adress. For example my email is abcd@gmail.com, then Sender name appears as abcd while I set From Name as XYZ.

    How can I solve this?

    Hi,

you can also temporarily select the “Default (none)” mailer, save the settings, update the From email to match your Gmail email address, select Gmail mailer again and save the settings.

    Take care!

In my case WP Mail SMTP picks a “From Email” that has nothing to do with the Gmail account. It picks a random Email from a completely different domain as “From Email”! Gmail does not like that.

I missed the post above. That solution fixed the problem. Sorry.

I just clicked back on the default “PHP” mailer, then clicked “save settings” once I did that, I was able to edit the “From” email address back to what I wanted to change it to, then I switched back to the Gmail mailer – and it was good to go.

I can change the ‘From Email address’ but it doesn’t change the email that sent out. How can I solve this?

    Hi @djmayy,

which version of our plugin are you using?

If you are using the latest version, you should be able to select from the dropdown menu, which from email address you want to use.

Please update to the latest version of our plugin and let me know if you still have this issue.

    Take care!

    Hi Gregor,

I am using the updated version of the plugin and I can choose the email from the dropdown. However, the website is still sending emails from another email account. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Hi @djmayy,

is that other email account also registered as your alias/”sent as email” in your gmail/gsuite account?

Do you have any other email sending plugins installed? That might cause some conflicts.

Are you using PHP constants to configure our plugin, or did you input all settings in the plugin interface in WP dashboard?

    Take care!

    Hi Gregor,

I have registered the email as alias in my Gmail but I haven’t verified it yet. However I am able to send email from that email address in other email marketing platforms. Therefore, I am not sure why I can’t use that email address in WordPress.

There is no other email plugin in my WordPress for sending emails.

I am currently using the Google API to configure the setting. I am not sure if that is using PHP. Sorry that I don’t have one.

    Hi @djmayy,

if you already have a G-Suite alias, you still have to register it as the “Send mail as” email address in the Gmail settings. Please follow these instructions: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/22370.

Once you do that and you’ll register your alias as the “Send mail as”, this alias will show up in the plugin settings dropdown for the “From Email” setting and you’ll be able to select it.

    Have a nice day!

    Hi Gregor,

I am able to select the email that I want to send out from the plugin, but the email is still not from the address that I selected. Would you have any idea about it?

    Hi May,

so you selected the from email that you want to send email out with and if you send a test email from our plugin it will not be sent from that email address, but it will instead be the mail email address of your google account?

    When you said:
    > I have registered the email as alias in my Gmail but I haven’t verified it yet.

Maybe you have to verify it before it can be used by Google API?

    Take care!
