Support » Fixing WordPress » I broke my site with bad code

  • It appears that I broke my site with some bad code. I installed the Code Snippets plugin and copied some bad code into a snippet. Foolishly didn’t know what I was doing and broke my site. Now, i can’t get in to turn that off. I tried installing an FTP tool, but it won’t let me connect with the same credentials I use to admin my site. I’m quite confused.
How do I get around this?

if you are not sure how to access the files that are connected to your website (i.e. a plugin) — contact the support team at your webhosting vendor for guidance on the proper login credentials to use.

if your webhosting account has cPanel access, you can usually get to the file manager that way to remove a plugin that is causing trouble.

the username and password for your WordPress admin dashboard is not usually the same as for your webhosting or ftp access.

Your FTP details will be different to your WordPress dashboard login, and are set by your host. You will need to contact them to recover those details.

Thank you! The owner of the site thought they were the same. I’m working to get the FTP account details. I appreciate the assistance!
