I am not receiving emails

    I just installed a windows 7 server and I am not receiving emails when things are happening on the site such as new users, forum posts. Do I have to have a mail server on my computer as well?

    Any suggestions? Thanks for the help!

    Does anyone know how to fix this I need to have my site sending me emails so that I can monitor what is happening.

    Do I have to have a mail server on my computer as well?

    You have to have a mail server or a mailbox somewhere to receive mail.

    I have a mailbox, but I guess I am asking for something a little more detailed. In order for the website to send out the multiple notifications like when someone posts or registers do I need to have a mailserver to receive those notifications?
