  • I am interested in using WordPress for my main cms. So what I really want to know is long term users’ options on WordPress, please give me the positives and negatives. I am thinking that it is better than the cms I using now, but would love to hear from long term users. Thanks in advance.

  • The biggest downside for me is the lack of a true rich editor. I would like more control of where text is placed, tables, etc… Other than that, it is fantastic.

Well, what CMS are you using now? WP is much easier than Drupal and Joomla if you’re using those.

I switched to WordPress from another CMS that had a shallower learning curve to getting a fairly basic site up and running from my own design, but I had a lot of technical difficulties that I couldn’t solve on my own. I find WP much more reliable, it doesn’t tend to throw hissyfits!

I agree with Gabe, to give you advice we really need to know what CMS you are using now, so we can help you compare.

Most of my clients are using MODx as their website management system, and I have received complains about it not being reliable, crashing, etc. I am now fed up with MODx and need something which is better.

I’m not real familiar with MODx but I’ve used many CMS tools and you can’t really go wrong with WP. In short, WP is relatively:

    – easy to use
    – easy to configure (plenty of theme and plugin support)
    – easy to customize (even with limited html/php experience)

The most amazing thing about wordpress is that there are hundreds of amazing plugins to solve almost any challenge you want to throw at your site!
