I am getting emails every minute from topics I am not subscribed to

    Hi,

    I have started my first topic a couple of days ago on a plugin forum I needed help with. Of course I subscribed to the topic and the plugin forum to stay updated.

    Now I am getting literally one email every minutes or seconds. My inbox is full of emails from forums and topics I AM NOT SUBSCRIBED TO. Actually, as I can see from my profile subscriptions, I am not subscribed to ANYTHING at all. And I can ensure that since if I visit a forum or topic from where I am getting emails I can only “Subscribe”, which in my understanding means that I am not subscribed.

    I do not want to to stop receiving emails from WordPress since I need to open more support topics for different plugins and also I’d like to stay updated with what I like.

    The emails I am getting are from noreply@wordpress.org the subject is always [WordPress.org Forums] Topic Title

    I would really appreciate any kind of help,

    Is it continuing? The team rolled back an update to the forum software a couple of hours ago.

    Yes, it is continuing. The last mail I got was 11 minutes ago.

    Are you still getting that? There was a code update for these forums but it was backed out hours ago and that should have stopped the flood of emails.

    If you are still getting that stream of emails from here:

    Can you do me a favor? Check your email address that is receiving the stream of email from your profile page and make sure it’s the same email.

    Do not post any email address in these forums, you will get spammed more. I just want to make sure you don’t do that. 😉 The email field in your profile is not viewable by other users.

    If the email address that is getting a flood is different than your profile, send the details to forum-password-resets[at]wordpress.org and include the link to this topic. Someone can help you there without you publicly stating your email address.

    The reason I’m asking is that your profile page shows that you are not subscribed to anything.

    But if the email address getting that is not the same then the moderators may be looking at the wrong place.

    If you are no longer getting all that email flood then all is good. 😉

    Please do this: Try and get the whole message and headers. On GMail it’s view message source. Send ONE of those emails to forum-password-reset@wordpress.org and make sure you include all of the email headers. Include a link to this topic.

    That will keep your email private and we may be able to get to the bottom of this.

    Hi @unav4ila8le

    Unfortunately it looks like you’d managed to get subscribed to the Plugins forum, so you were receiving every topic and reply about plugins (Our most active forum).

    I’ve disabled that for you now, but not sure why it was happening in the first place as that functionality was supposed to be disabled.

    Thanks for letting us know about the situation, I’ll ensure it doesn’t happen to anyone else too!
