Support » Plugin: WooCommerce PayPal Payments » I am dumb, but i was not able to set it up

  • I understand we needed to upgrade to something safer…
but i think coders did not realize that 75% of the people who have woocommerce outsource their setting and are not (rightfully) happy to give away paypal credentials?
basically maybe people will be stuck to “Connect your account to WooCommerce (see above).”

My client was able to get the the client ID, the signature and so on… but the date requested by this plugin is different.

at the end i Installed YITH and it worked, and then moved with the official paypal plugin, and it worked too… So I might be dumb, but the setup of this plugin need a LOT of improvement

    Hi @rotello,

I’m not sure I understand what the problem is with the onboarding feature? Can you please elaborate on your concerns?
This is a PayPal service, you are not giving away the PayPal credentials to anyone else when using the onboarding wizard.
With the “Connect to PayPal” button, the onboarding wizard will automatically create a new REST application for your PayPal account and enable certain features, like Vaulting or the PayPal Card Processing (if available) for example.

Older PayPal integrations like the one from YITH use outdated PayPal technology that uses different authorization credentials compared to integrations using the latest REST API.
If for some reason, you don’t want to use the onboarding wizard to connect your account, then you can still manually create a REST application in the PayPal developer dashboard and use the manual credential input as described here:
We are currently working to extend the official plugin documentation with more information around the onboarding process, but it is supposed to be a matter of just a few clicks to connect your account without the need to lookup any unknown API credentials.
I hope that makes it more clear.

    Kind regards,
