I don't understand any of this. I made a wordpress.com and pushed my domain (howtobemyself.com)to it. Then I found out that .com doesn't include plugins and that I need a .org account. I have host gator for my hosting. I've reviewed some of the documents and I am not getting anywhere. Is there even a way to move a wordpress.com over to .org so I can use the plugins? I am very noob with this being my first website/blog. Any helps to a newbie would be greatly appriciated.

You installed the WordPress.com platform instead of the WordPress.org platform. They're two different web platforms from wordpress.

You want to be using the .org version http://www.wordpress.org. Download and reinstall or use your servers' platform install utility if it has one.

Then export your wp.com blog and import it: http://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content#WordPress
