    Hi,

I have imported an Excel spreadsheet, but unfortunately, the hyperlinks from the spreadsheet are not kept. Is there a way to keep them?

Instead I tried to update them directly in TablePress. I tried to use the insert link functionality, and the html link is included in the editor, but when I preview the page, the link is not there. I tried to follow exactly the same process with inserting an image, and that worked fine, so I believe I do it correctly..

Any clue of what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks for the help! Mdelfs

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

Importing links from Excel is not possible, I’m afraid, as they use different technical mechanisms.

When re-creating them with the “Insert Link” button, it is important that the link text appears between the HTML tags, like

    <a href="...">Link Text</a>

Is that the case in your table?

    Hi Tobias,

    Thanks for the quick reply!

When using the link button, below is added to the cell text:

There is not space the last character in my cell and the string above.

    Best regards,

    Last line should have read:

There is no space between the last character in my cell and the string..

    Hi,

I’m not really sure what you mean here. Can you please post a link to the page with the table where this problem happens, so that I can take a direct look? Thanks!

    Sure..

    http://u16kew1.nixweb10.dandomain.dk/?page_id=2

So now, the full cell value is:
    Lenotti, Le Olle Bardolino Classico

My cell value is: Lenotti, Le Olle Bardolino Classico

The rest has been added by the insert link function. When I preview the table, of course only my cell value is present, but there is just no link.

Again, thanks for helping out 🙂

Okay, now I understand why you don’t understand..
When I write html in the post, it is just deleted.. Hmm..
Can I upload a picture here or write you directly somewhere?

    Hi,

thanks for the link! Just as I had thought, you will simply have to move the desired link text into the HTML code, as in the example above.
    For example, change

    Lenotti, Le Olle Bardolino Classico<a href="http://u16kew1.nixweb10.dandomain.dk/?p=1" target="_blank"></a>

    to

    <a href="http://u16kew1.nixweb10.dandomain.dk/?p=1" target="_blank">Lenotti, Le Olle Bardolino Classico</a>

    Regards,
    Tobias

Can I upload a picture here

Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to upload images here. But you could use http://snag.gy/ and post a url for the image here.

    Ok, thanks for this!

Is there a reason it doesn’t not do that automatically when I use the link function. It knows the cell value and I provide the URL, so should it not be possible to join this in a way so it does this by itself..?

As you see, I have quite a lot of links to update, and more will come. Do you know an easy way of doing this or is it just hard work all the way through? 🙂

    Hi,

you can use the “Insert Link” feature, you will simply have to cut and paste the existing cell content into the “Link text” field (via Ctrl-A, Ctrl-X, and Ctrl-V on the keyboard).
With that, the “Insert Link” button will create the correct HTML code.
