Support » Fixing WordPress » Hyperlinking in Firefox & Safari Selecting Too Much Text

  • Hi. A client of mine is having an issue with selecting text to hyperlink. When she highlights a word or phrase and clicks the link icon, it selects that portion but also hyperlinks all the proceeding characters in the paragraph. Its only happening in Firefox and Safari. The odd thing is that the proceeding characters arent actually linking, but its adding the <a> stylings (underline and hover) effects to the text. Is this a known issue in the lastest version of WP? Thanks.

  • No. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.
