My host also checked it out. After doing more research (er, checking when the last update was), it may not even be this plugin but a conflict with the plugin Postman SMTP which was updated a month or so ago. I’ve switched to WP Mail Bank but since I cannot replicate the massive emails myself it’s hard to know if that was the problem until it happens to someone again.
Now tha you mentioned, StCR is having issues Postmant SMTP, I noticed the author of that plugin but did not reply to me with a Detail Answer. Postman SMTP works in some hosting providers and some others not. I unistall it in some sites.
I subscribe in your website but there are not hundreds of email in my account.
Ah, so it may have been Postman all along. Ok, will just stick with Mail Bank unless you have another suggestion for an SMTP plugin that has no problems with StCR?

Same think happen to me too, several users received 600+ emails!
I have both your plugin and postman smtp installed on my wordpress.
Reedyseth do you manage to solve this issue with postman smtp please?

Not so far, because StCR is working OK, is just how Postman SMTP handle the deliveries. Also I have a version on development that logs the emails that are sent, if you are confortable I can share with you the development repository and make sure that StCR is not sending that massive amount of emails.

Actually only few users received these mass emails, apparently no new users complain about that.

I believe this issue popped up for me today as well. I see another user was using the same SMTP deliver plug-in as I so I’ll investigate switching.
This morning I received over 100 “Manage your comment subscriptions on Second Run Reviews” and delivery errors for the same email address within a 40 minute window. This address did not leave any comments.
It happened again this evening and I received over 170 emails with a different email address requesting the same thing. Once again there were no emails connected to that address.
