# Huge debug.log file

 * My backups keep taking many many hours. I am guessing it’s because of a message
   I keep saying that says something about encountering a huge file called debug.
   log. It’s slowing my site down considerably for users because the backup is still
   running in the morning after about 12 hours, presumably because of this file.
 * What is it and what can I do about it?

 * Hi,
 * Could you send us a copy of one of the backup logs?
    You can find these logs
   in the Existing Backups tab of the UpdraftPlus dashboard.
 * It will be too long to post here, but you can use a service such as [pastebin](http://pastebin.com/),
   and post the link.

 * This is almost certainly wp-content/debug.log, because the site has debug logging
   explicitly turned on. Solution: 1) turn it off, 2) delete the file.
 * The relevant page with info on debug logging in the WordPress documentation –
   [https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress](https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress)–
   turns up #1 if you Google “WordPress debug.log” …

 * I did Google it but didn’t connect WordPress to it. All makes sense now, I turned
   off the logging in wp-config.php. Thanks for your help!
