Huge database

  • Hi,
    I have a problem with my blog.
    When a user register a profile a new blog (8 tables) is created.
    Now I have more than 4000 users, so in my database there are more than 15000 tables. Now I have 2 questions:

    1. Is there a way to use only one table for post and comments and don’t create a blog for every user?
    2. Is there a way to “compact” the table that I have in my database in few tables?

    thanks a lot,
    Davide

    Is this a multisite install?

    yes, it’s a multisite install.
    Here is the version.php file content:

    $wp_version = ‘2.5.1’;
    $wp_db_version = 7796;
    $wpmu_version = ‘1.5.1’;

    Wow. Welcome to the land of the totally unsupported.

    I don’t think any of the usual plugins still support 2.5.x. Normally I’d say use HyperDB or SharDB, but you may be SOL here.

    You need to UPGRADE everything before you go much further. Then you have to look at a plugin like shardb or hyper db to split up your database.

    No, you cannot alter the db structure by putting those tables in one,
