HTTPS SSL 404 errors Shared ssl certificate

    I’m getting 404 errors on pages I have set to use ssl – I have read below in FAQ

    “…If you continue to recieve 404 errors, there may be no way to use WordPress with that particular public/shared SSL.”

    I am using a shared SSL. Is there any way I can know for sure if above is the case? If it is, I assume that is down to my hosting company?

    I did try disabling the permalinks as suggested. All that did was give me this message

    Forbidden
    You don’t have permission to access /***/ on this server
