# HTTPS on fatcow

 * My site is just for fun so spending $32 a year just to get https seems expensive.
   Plus no one going to a site called stupidtom.com is looking for high security
   but it seems like we will all need it soon. Anyone use a plugin or have some 
   other way I would love to hear about it.

 * The simple answer is no. SSL is provided by your host. Many hosts provide **Let’s
   Encrypt** now which meets the minimum requirements (not at all an endorsement)
   for any Search Engines with plans soon to penalize sites not using HTTPS.
 * Since it’s not likely to get many hits from them even if at SSL (content is king
   and there are stop words), I would not worry, just use Social Media to share 
   your site with your network of people.

   Class 1) mentioned a time or two.

 * If you are locked into a hosting provider that does not support Let’s Encrypt
   free SSL, another free option – not quite as good – is CloudFlare’s Flexible 
   SSL.
