 * Hello,
 * I’d like to install WordPress with an HTTPS address right from the start. My
   host supplies the SSL certificate. Some say it’s better to install HTTP and then
   make the change to HTTPS afterwards, while others imply it can be done directly.
 * The documentation I’ve seen so far is pretty confusing and sometime contradictory,
   like this page which is completely confusing and not much help :
 * [https://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/web-publishing/https-for-wordpress/](https://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/web-publishing/https-for-wordpress/)
 * For example, apparently it is better to secure the whole site, while that page
   says it is not necessary.
 * What is the best way to install HTTPS directly with my WordPress installation?
 * Thank-you for your help.

 * Install it with HTTPS from the start. There’s no reason to do it any other way.
 * There may be some instances where you don’t need/want a HTTPS page on your site,
   wtih with Google’s move to flagging any site without a SSL certificate as “not
   secure” the contents of that are a it out of date.

 * Thank-you for the clear response. I think the confusion comes from the installation
   process: when installing WP with FTP, I’m not sure when exactly I need to specify
   HTTPS, or if it is ‘automatic’ when there is an SSL certificate.
 * I’ve done many WP installations in HTTP and only once there was a problem. The
   person who helped me fix the installation suggested I use HTTPS during the process,
   only I don’t remember how it was done — what exactly was done differently.
 * During an FTP installation, when do I need to choose this option?
 * Thank-you again for your help.

 * The only thing you need to do is make sure that the URL includes https:// when
   you go through the installation process. Everything else will fall into place.
