 * Hi,
 * I set up a new site earlier this week, created a few pages and templates in Elementor
   and installed a few plugins (among those, Elementor Pro). Then I got round to
   install Letsencrypt on my domain and Wordfence (if things take off the site could
   be a target of attack). Could it be that installing Letsencrypt on my domain
   would break the entire WP site?
    After battling for a day I still have two main
   problems.
 * 1 – I can’t install any plugins – I get a message about FTP servers and user
   name. I’ve never used FTP on any of my sites before, and I don’t know why it
   should start nagging me about FTP now (it didn’t when I installed to the site
   running under non-encrypted http).
 * 2- Elementor is unable to edit either pages or templates I used to set up the
   site while using non-encrypted http.
 * Have I f***ed up somewhere? And how do I fix this mess?
    (Given it has something
   to do with https rather than http).

 * Did you set WordPress up to run under HTTPS following these steps? [https://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/web-publishing/https-for-wordpress/](https://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/web-publishing/https-for-wordpress/)

 * I’ve changed http to https in the URL section, yes. That is pretty much it? (
   Certificate is valid and installed through Letsencrpt). Elementor is totally
   fubar now, which is extremely inconvenient.
 * Plugin issue turned out to be a permissions problem.

 * Ok, I recommend reporting the issue at [https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/elementor/](https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/elementor/)
   so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

 * Problem solved:
 * OK, I found the solution on my own. After mailing with support for days and in
   the process managing to over-right my installation (I do have a backup). So I
   lost about 1½ week and need to manually restore the site (backup is on multi-
   site server, can’t afford pro-restore tool atm).
 * Solution: You need to use the Elementor tool to replace the URL… (not only in
   WP settings).
    Important!: Adding an SSL Certificate to your website (HTTP to
   HTTPS) also requires you to replace the URL. [https://docs.elementor.com/…/218-i-changed-the-url-of&#8230](https://docs.elementor.com/…/218-i-changed-the-url-of&#8230);
