# HTTPS access only, not HTTP

 * Probably a configuration issue but external access to my site only works if https://
   is used and does not work with [http://](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/https-access-only-not-http/?output_format=md).
   I have wordpress hosted on my WHS2011 server and it is in a virtual site under
   the default site on IIS. I dont think I have anything unusual in the bindings
   etc and port 80 is not blocked by my ISP and http access works inside my network
   just fine but ends up at [https://mysite.com/etc](https://mysite.com/etc)
    I 
   have checked the url settings in General and they use the site name with no https
   prefix and the database fields are the same. I do have a site redirected from
   godaddy and this gives the same result i.e works with https and times out with
   http. Is this a simple wordpress fix or a whs2011 IIS configuration problem (
   learning more about IIS than I ever wanted 🙂 ) Apologize in advance if dumb 
   question

 * I would think it is an IIS issue. Sounds like IIS is simply requires https. Since
   you are using WHS2011, I assume this site is on a home network, behind a firewall/
   router, and you are using some type of dynamic name server. Make sure you are
   forwarding ports 443 & 80 through you router to your WHS2011, and your firewall
   on the WHS2011 is also allowing access to public IP addresses.
