    @raluca84

    I followed the steps to install wordpress with xampp but in the end i get an error like Object not found
    Error 404

    localhost
    09/13/12 11:50:06
    Apache/2.2.21 (Win32) mod_ssl/2.2.21 OpenSSL/1.0.0e PHP/5.3.8 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.10.1

    Any idea?

    Thank you!

  • What port is XAMPP running on? Check your configuration. If it is port 80, this should work: “http://localhost”. If it is port 8080, this should work: “http://localhost:8080”. Likewise with 8888, “http://localhost:8888”. And so on.

    Apache port 80
    But there is an warning in xampp like :***WARNING :Directory mismatch***
    Status check OK

    localhost/phpmyadmin works…so i think is smth wrong with wordpress, maybe the database…i had joomla first and i deleted it, could that affect?

    Thanks for ur reply s_ha_dum

    That looks like a XAMPP error, which suggests it isn’t WordPress, it is your xampp configuration. Please post the complete, unedited error.

    WordPress should be able to use the same database as that used by Joomla. It will create its own tables. So long as there aren’t table names conflicts it should work, but that is messy. Why not just create a new database?
