 * Hi all, I can not run “[http://localhost:8888/wp-admin/install.php&#8221](http://localhost:8888/wp-admin/install.php&#8221);
   and install wordpress locally on my mac. I have already read several suggestions
   in the forum and non is working.
 * Tried “[http://localhost/wp-admin/install.php](http://localhost/wp-admin/install.php)
   also tried different ports to Apache ex. 80. Cheked all settings many times. 
   Any suggestions?
 * running newest mamp and wordpress on mac os 10.10

 * Hi Martin,
 * The URL you provided would be for an install in the root of the MAMP document
   root, that is, Applications/MAMP/htdocs.
 * Generally, one uses a sub folder within the above location and when you extract
   the WP download, the actual files required are already in a folder named `wordpress`.
 * So, if you used the default MAMP settings (ports and document root) and you extracted
   the WP download to Applications/MAMP/htdocs, and you do have a folder in there
   named `wordpress`, then to start the install, enter:
 * `http://localhost:8888/wordpress`
 * Note too that you need to use phpMyAdmin from the MAMP Start page, to create 
   a new, empty database before you begin the install.
