 * Hi!
    I guess I appear more or less braindead but here is the case. Earlier today
   I installed the latest version of WP, installed a theme, and then I saw that
   it sais http in the adressline. I wanted it to read https and installed a plug
   in that should force the site to https if I understood it correctly. And now
   I have no way of either seeing the site nor log in to the site. The “braindead”-
   reference is related to I may very well have installed the wrong plug-in:[https://wordpress.org/plugins/http-https-remover/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/http-https-remover/)
   And as said – I have no way of either seeing or logging in. Help anyone?

 * Via FTP or your hosting control panel’s file manager app, delete the plugin you
   just added by removing its directory in wp-content/plugins.
 * Before I walk you through switching to SSL, have you actually installed a valid
   SSL certificate on your hosting?

 * Thanks a lot! I have deleted the plug-in.
    What I do have is “Let’s encrypt”
   which may probably not be the “real” SSL?

 * Let’s Encrypt is real SSL. I use it on dozens of sites.
 * Assuming you installed LE for your domain on your host, install the plugin “better
   search replace”. Then (1) disable any caching and optimization plugins you may
   be using and (2) use the plugin to search for `http://example.com` and replace
   with `https://example.com`.
 * This will log you out, so log back in, verify the site, delete “better search
   replace”, and re-enable caching and optimization.

 * Thanks again for helping. What I missed to say id that I installed WP in a folder
   wanting to set it to main site when set up. And I have no longer access to WP
   in that folder where I assume you would like me to install “bsr. Or am I missing
   more?

 * OK, first focus on getting the site working and active as an http site.

 * Well it did, but as the “genius” I am I messed it all up with installing that
   plug-in. I guess it would just be easier to delete the whole lot including db
   and wp content. I hadn’t come very far, just set up different pages, logos and
   stuff.
    Thanks again))…
