    Hello Experts,

My website dotnetcrunch.com is down. Even I cannot access the admin section.

All this happened after installing the https://wordpress.org/plugins/content-views-query-and-display-post-page/ plugin.

I have removed that plugin’s entry from control panel. yet not able to get my site up.

Please help me getting my site up and running. I did lot of efforts in customizing the entire blog from past 15 days and now it’s down 🙁

    Thanks a lot in advance!

Internal server errors (error 500) are often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts, so if you have access to your admin panel, try deactivating all plugins. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Sixteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

If that does not resolve the issue, it’s possible that a .htaccess rule could be the source of the problem. To check for this, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and rename the .htaccess file. If you can’t find a .htaccess file, make sure that you have set your SFTP or FTP client to view invisible files.

If you weren’t able to resolve the issue by either resetting your plugins and theme or renaming your .htaccess file, we may be able to help, but we’ll need a more detailed error message. Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that specific time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

Thanks a lot @james for you suggestions.

I went to functions.php file of my child theme and removed the below code:

    <?php echo do_shortcode(“[pt_view id=bc2843225e]”); ?>

And guess what my site is up Hurray!!

However, Not sure why it was creating issue. Still wondering!!

    Thanks again.

Can you share what the parent theme is, and where you got it from?

I got it from the ContentsView plugin. Once we apply the view settings and save them, it generates the shortcode which we can apply to content pages, widgets or theme files.

    refer – https://wordpress.org/plugins/content-views-query-and-display-post-page/

Parent theme for DotnetCrunch is Genesis and child theme breakpoint.

    Thanks!

Ah, ok, in that case I recommend reporting the issue at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/content-views-query-and-display-post-page so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

    Hello!

I accidentally deleted something from my theme and now I get a “HTTP ERROR 500” error and can’t access my site or log in. Please help.

    Thanks!

    Hello Experts,

this is my 2nd approach to ask some advice for nousfiberconsulting.com and I cannot access the admin section. That happened after I tried to update my web page and was unable to registrate (error 500).
Thereafter I went to ftp and renamed htaccess to htaccesss. After that I couldn´t open ftp anymore.
Maybe the advices of James are applicable in my case, as well?

    Thanks in advance!

    Peter

    Hi James:

I believe I inserted something into the functions.php file causing my site to have the http 500 error code. I cannot access the admin menu and do not have the expertise to access my server in the ways you suggested above. Do you have any recommendations?

    Thanks,
    Aaron
