Thanks for trying boost! Can I ask the URL of the website that you are trying to connect? That will help us analyze the possible sources of this error.

This error usually occurs when there is an issue with your XMLRPC.php endpoint and/or a conflict with another plugin on your site.

Further investigation reveals – at least at my TEST SITE – I had xmlrpc.php blocked in Test Site’s .htaccess

Once I unblocked it, the error disappeared.

    Questions:
(1). If someone wants to disable xmlrpc.php, does this mean that user cannot use this plugin?
(2). Any workaround to use this plugin with disabled xmlrpc.php ?

    Edit:
    (3) Also, If this plugin does not need the Jetpack plugin, then why one has to Create an account to set up Jetpack?

Yes, this plug-in requires a working XMLRPC.php and a WordPress.com account. These are both required in order to securely connect to our cloud services (eg our benchmarking API) which help power the plugin.

By using the same account and communications layer as jetpack we benefit from the incredible maturity and performance of that system, and we also help our users by not requiring them to sign up for a whole new service if they already have a WordPress.com account.

If you already have jetpack installed we allow you to automatically reuse that connection without needing to sign in again. Other plugins that do this include WooCommerce and WCPay.
