I am using .ws domain hosting and wordpress is a plugin for me, I was using it as a subpage until recently, I tried to set this as my primary page and lost everything. I went to my .ws dashboard and set up a new wordpress blog but now everytime I try to click edit I get this error??? HTTP 404 Not Found — Please Help. I do not mind building from the bottom up again as this is mostly downloading pictures and I had not gotten very far into it before deciding to use it as a primary page.

  • Hi nikkisg, can you explain what you mean by a subpage and primary page? What steps did you take to setup this primary page? And also it would help to let us know the URL where you are getting the 404 error.

FYI a 404 error means that the server can’t find the URL you requested. This is either because you got the URL wrong (e.g. http://www.google.com/idontexist) or WordPress is set up wrongly. Try going into your WordPress dashboard » Settings » Permalinks and save your Permalinks again to see if that helps.

Ok first of all…thank you for getting back to me..my home domain thru .ws is http://www.nicole-g.net it is a sitebuilder site. When i go to my domain hosting dashboard (website.ws) there is an option for a plugin wordpress blog. Being unfamiliar with wordpress, I left my sitebuilder site with the domain http://www.nicole-g.net and used wordpress as a subdomain cabinbabble.nicole-g.net. I decided I liked word press so I choose the option to use to use my wordpress blog as my primary site. I changed the domain name in my wordpress dashboard so it would match…. now I have lost it completely. I tried deleting it from my plugins and starting ovr. It says my wordpress blog was created but when i click the link I get the 404 error. I know what the error is I am just not sure how I screwed myself up so bad.

I was able to reset password and log back in to change the domain name and it seems to have fixed my problem. Thanks
