# HTML tab inactive?

 * Hi guys
    for some reason when I am editing a post I can not click on the HTML
   tab – it is there but greyed out I checked the admin area and the options for
   the user has this option unticked ok any thoughts? I checked with author of the
   theme and he says def not the theme either kind regards Collette

 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a **fresh** download
   of WordPress 3.0.5
 * – increasing the memory available to PHP:

 * thanks esmi! am trying to go through and try all of these suggestions. tried 
   all the plugins and still nothing 🙁
    do you know is it possible to edit the 
   HTML of a post outside of the wp-admin, like on an actual physical page somewhere
   on the server? I am trying to insert an external form into a page so need access
   to the HTML 🙁 cheers!
