.html limitations? (2 posts)

Are you aware of any limitations redirecting .html files (i.e. a blogger blog moved to WordPress)? I have tried several plugin attempts for this redirection, without success, and I'm wondering if there is a limitation I am not aware of. I was very excited to discover Velvet Blues, and when I entered my pages to be re-directed to the new link, in some cases it said it was replaced ~40 times, however, the .html files are not redirecting for me.

    Here are 2 samples:
    http://www.pret-a-voyager.com/p/visit-paris.html (on blogger)*
    and http://www.pret-a-voyager.com/visit-paris/ (on wordpress)

    and posts look like
    http://www.pret-a-voyager.com/2011/08/where-to-sleep-in-paris.html (on blogger)*
    http://www.pret-a-voyager.com/2011/08/where-to-sleep-in-paris/ (on wordpress)

    * The blogger pages (end in .html) still result in the 404 page.

    Thank you for your assistance!

The Update URLs plugin DOES NOT create redirects. Now that you have used the plugin to replace .html links in the content, you should now set up redirects for the pages, which is a separate process. Look in the WP plugin repository for something that creates 301 Redirects. Then you can use the plugin you find to make sure that all .html pages go to their new WP equivalents.

(You could also achieve the same thing far more efficiently via your .htaccess via a few simple rules. However, based on this question, I'm guessing you are not familiar with .htaccess files, which makes a plugin a better DIY solution.)

    Good Luck!
