@achillesden The HTML Import is a precise process and was coded to work with the popup that appears when you go to the link mentioned in your reply. It should work with any language – however the relative times will need manual input for most non-English languages.
If Google have altered their process then I’ll need to look at the existing code and find a solution that can be added to an upcoming version of the plugin.
Hopefully this isn’t the case. Leave it with me and I’ll investigate this matter in the coming hours.
@achillesden I remember seeing this before but I thought there was a choice between the presentation of reviews (amalgamated versus stand-alone). This occurs for the specific sector of accommodation (hotels, guest houses, etc.) because there are many reviews available through third-party websites that would influence the decision of potential guests.
I will look into the matter more in the coming days because it will need its own approach analysing the HTML contained in the element <div class="gKQjEe"></div>
.
Thanks for bringing this matter to my attention.
Thanks. I will wait for a decision. And I also wanted to clarify. You wrote, “The Google API only offers a maximum of 5 relevant reviews at a time. Fortunately, this plugin will collect more reviews over time giving you more options to display your own selection of reviews from a larger pool.” I understand correctly that all the reviews left in Google after installing the plugin will be added to those 5 that are already there? Will only those that went through my site be added, or even those that are left directly on Google? And will the accumulated reviews be deleted after clicking on the “Clear Cache” button?
@achillesden The plugin is working well with the expected HTML for the import process – so I need to extend its functionality to handle both versions – and only importing the Google reviews and not the others listed there.
As far as I can see for your situation – you’re down 2 reviews because you’ll have 5/7 of the available reviews listed on Google. You will pick up more reviews over time but it’s unlikely that you’ll collect the other two reviews at a later date unless they become more relevant and start appearing in the API data.
The Clear Cache doesn’t affect your reviews. You’ll still have these stored in the database after pressing the button.
Even if you press the Reset button, it will come up with a warning first – and an option to just reset reviews.
Thanks for the answer. All clear. I will wait for improvements and a paid version. Unfortunately, now there is no way to somehow support the project. I wish you success and that your work be rewarded.
@achillesden The HTML Import now handles these reviews. Please update to version 3.0. 🙂
