 * Hi guys,
    I have a relatively large database, it contains a whole load of entities
   which are not properly encoded. I was curious to know if there is a function
   available that I can pass the text through, that would encode all the entities.
   WordPress must have a function like this, right? Is it available standalone?

 * It’s OK guys, the htmlentities() function in PHP does this. 🙂
