I use Yahoo Sitebuilder. I do not want to have to recreate my entire site again. Can I use my html and then integrate WordPress.org to add a blog and would that give my site the SEO credit I am looking for?

you can install wordpress in a folder like /blog and link to it from your html page
or try

of course you can set wordpress to have a static home page – so I see no real reason not to put it in root, use the static page option and get rid of the html altogether
