# HTML button gone

* I currently have wordpress 2.0.2 installed on mulitple domains and have noticed
that today out of no where the HTML button on the POST page has been removed
and the graphical icons for the buttons are gone and have been replaced with
gray boxes with the name of the button in text… I haven’t made any changes over
the last few days.
* What could have caused this to happen?
* when i try and post straight html into the post box my posts come out all messed
up, they use to come out fine when i would use the HTML button the box would
open then i would paste my HTML into the box and it would format the post correctly
rather than tearing apart my code…
* I could really use ANY help it would be greatly appreciated

* Any chance that under Users > Your Profile, the Personal Options setting “Use
the visual rich editor when writing” is unchecked?

* Yeah that was the first thing I had checked actually and it was still checked.
This is the first time anything like this has happend to me… very strange

* still no logical explination as to what could be causing this issue

* I used firefox before and i’m still using firefox now to access my wp installations
and out of nowhere it disappeared also tried accessing it via internet explorer
but the button was missing when i used that browser also…
* i’ve been doing some searching and seems a lot more people then just myself have
run into this problem and have been left with no resolution…
* i don’t understand how this could happen without me disabling the feature myself…

* The only things I can suggest are:
* 1. Make sure javascript is running in your browser.
* 2. Delete everything in the wp-include/js/tinymce directory, and reupload. This
is where all the javascript scripts for the rich text editor are located.

* well now i know it’s not my browser i have wp installed on two different servers
and one server still has the visual rich text editor and all it’s buttons there
while my other server doesn’t have it anymore… very very strange
* i tried re-uploading all the files in the directory /wp-includes/js/tinymce/
* but did nothing

* how do i go about bringing this to the attention of the authors of the script
as i’ve done a lot of searches on this topic and noticed that a lot of WP users
have experienced this problem…
* they should think about releasing a fix for this…

* A bump for some help still having this issue still haven’t found a resolution
or even any help as to what would correct this problem…
