# .htaccess upload = Error 500: Internal Server Error

 * In my attempts to make my wordpress themes writable with the WordPress editor,
   the use of a .htaccess file has led to an Error 500. (Prior to this, I had no.
   htaccess file).
 * I just uploaded a htaccess.txt file and then renamed it just .htaccess. Once 
   I did that, I get Error 500: Internal Server Error. Now I cannot even log in 
   to my dashboard.
 * Any ideas or remedies to my .htaccess fiasco?

 * Themes are made writable by amending the directory permissions (chmod) – not 
   via an .htaccess file. Delete your.htaccess file and let WordPress set it up 
   again.
