.htaccess to show index.html instead of index.php not working?

Hi,

I’m creating a website and don’t want to show it to the world yet.. I’ve got an index.html an index.php in my root directory and put “DirectoryIndex index.html index.php” in my .htaccess which should do the trick right? It should load/show index.html and I can access domain.com/index.php to see if my website is doing what it should do..

For some reason it’s not working.. It shows directly index.php with the incomplete wordpress theme. What am I doing wrong?
