  • I just installed WP after using MT for a while. I got it up and running just fine and imported all my old MT posts. However, I’m having problems getting the permalinks to function. I set the link up in the admin section, generated the mod_rewrite rules, created a file in my web root called .htaccess, and pasted those rules in. I’ve verified (using phpinfo) that my server has mod_rewrite installed. But, when I try to access the permalinks, I get a 404. Is there something else I need to be doing?

  • The .htaccess file may have unwanted whitespace, tabs and so on, so please try and open it, and remove the unwanted white spaces.

Also, each rule has to occupy exactly one line. So if your text editor wordwrapped any of them into 2 or more lines, that could be an issue as well.

Thanks, but after checking on both of those, neither appears to be the cause.
