Support » Plugin: Maintenance » .htaccess on plugin activation

  • Resolved Daniele

    Hello support,

After activating the plugin, all traffic to wp-admin is blocked with error 403.

This is because .htaccess is created in /wp-admin/ with a “Deny from all”!

I tested on 2 sites with the same result, I guess is a bug?

Our plugin doesn’t create, edit or modify the .htaccess file in any way. There’s simply no code associated with those actions. Not sure what’s creating the file (another plugin or something on the server), but it’s not this plugin.

Exactly the same behavior on my website. As soon as I activate the maintenance plug-in, I no longer have access to my admin area. The wp-admin directory then contains the htaccess file with the directive deny from all. Daniele, how did you solve the problem or what caused the error?

@wpingo I just deleted the .htaccess that was placed there.

This happened to me on 2 different websites – I would investigate it @webfactory

@dabesa Thank you Daniele. I have also deleted the .htaccess file and I have removed the maintenance PlugIn. What did you do with the maintenance PlugIn? Do you use it or have you deleted it? I guess it’s an issue with security PlugIns. I use Block Bad Query and Limited Login Reloaded. If I have some time I will test it on my staging maschine.
