# htaccess chmod 660 problem

 * when i chmod my htaccess to 664 the blog works ok, but when i change it to 660,
   i get a 403 error with this message:
 * “You don’t have permission to access / on this server.”
 * any ideas what is going on here?

 * why would u give 660 ?it would be like giving permison for user and group for
   read and write but not world .
 * 644 should be ok .

 * ok, so 664 is not insecure? sorry for my ignorance, i’m new to this!

 * 644 is ok , this is what i use for my files ,711 for directories .
