HTACCESS and PERMALINKS

    okay so i’ve installed wordpress and am trying to update my entire site but would like to have use of permalinks so that i don’t have to have /index.php/%postname%/ and etc.

    my htaccess file appears to update but my permalinks do not work and mod_rewrite is running

    do i need to change something in apache?
    I am runnin 1.3

    HELP! I need to get this site up by Friday.

    You can find about a million possible fixes simply by using site:http://wordpress.org/support permalinks (in google). Look for post numbers 50000+.

    i’ve edited my http.config file and manually updated my .htaccess file. i checked to see if mod_rewrite is running. Everything seems to be working except for my server. I get a file cannot be located error not a 404. i’ve searched these forums so many times and reinstalled 4 times.
