.htaccess 301 Redirect from ASP to PHP issues

  • Trying to manually redirect some pages from the old ASP structure to the new PHP WordPress site but can’t seem to get the .htaccess file to see the redirects.

    The existing .htaccess file (auto generated somehow I’m assuming since I didn’t manually create) looks like this:

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>
    # END WordPress

    I need to redirect from a page that looks like:
    http://www.mysite.com/store/something/adopt.asp

    to

    http://www.mysite.com/adopt/

    I’ve used the standard 301 redirect code but it’s not working. Any suggestions would be huge help. Thanks!!
